Arshad Matin

President and Chief Executive Officer

Arshad MatinParadigm President and CEO, Arshad Matin serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Paradigm. As CEO, Matin manages all aspects of the company’s strategy development and implementation including delivering on the company’s promise to give upstream clients deeper insight into the subsurface through scientifically based software and services extending across the full range of oilfield exploration and production (E&P).

Matin brings several years of experience managing public and private high technology companies to his position. He previously served as Executive Vice President at IHS where he managed all business lines. He also led SMT (acquired by IHS) as President and CEO where he implemented a rapid growth strategy while transforming the family-owned business into a professional organization. Before joining SMT, Matin was President and COO of BindView Corporation (acquired by Symantec) where he led the company through a significant turn around that ultimately significantly increased shareholder value. Matin also led an enterprise security business at Symantec Corporation. Prior to that, he was a partner at McKinsey & Co. responsible for their technology practice.

Matin currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of On Assignment (NYSE: ASGN). Matin holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Pennsylvania – The Wharton School; an MSE in Computer Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin; and a BE in Electrical Engineering from Regional Engineering College in Bhopal, India.

 

Chris Chaffin

General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer

Chris ChaffinChris Chaffin joined Paradigm in October 2013 as General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer.  He is responsible for overseeing the Company’s legal affairs, including intellectual property and the global compliance program.  Prior to joining Paradigm, Mr. Chaffin served as Deputy General Counsel and Assistant Corporate Secretary for BMC Software, Inc.  Over the course of his 14-year tenure at BMC Software, Mr. Chaffin gained deep software industry legal expertise and experience in transformational M&A, global corporate compliance, enterprise risk management, corporate governance, intellectual property, and software licensing.  Early in his legal career, Mr. Chaffin was an Associate with the international law firm Vinson & Elkins LLP and represented clients in corporate finance and securities matters.  Mr. Chaffin holds a BA in Economics from Duke University and a J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law.  He is a licensed attorney in the State of Texas.

 

Indy Chakrabarti

Senior Vice President of Product Management and Strategy

Indy ChakrabartiIndy Chakrabarti joined Paradigm in June, 2013. In his role as Senior Vice President of Product Management and Strategy, he is responsible for product definition, strategy and mergers & acquisitions. Mr. Chakrabarti has more than 15 years of experience in product strategy, corporate marketing, and product management. He began his career in 1998 and has worked for leading software and oil and gas companies. Prior to joining Paradigm, he held positions as the Vice President of Strategic Marketing at MicroSeismic Inc. and Chief Marketing Officer at Seismic Micro-Technology (SMT). He transitioned to oversight of product marketing and sales enablement for the $500 million energy technical business unit following SMT’s acquisition by IHS, He has held numerous positions in the IT software industry.

Indy earned a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Rice University in Houston, Texas, and a master’s in Engineering Logistics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Society of Explorations Geophysicists, and American Association of Petroleum Geologists.

 

Duane Dopkin

Executive Vice President of Geoscience

Duane DopkinDuane Dopkin is the Paradigm Executive Vice President of Geoscience. In this role, he helps set the technical direction for the company's product portfolio and helps educate the market, from global operators to universities, on the value of advanced geoscience techniques across the full range of G&G disciplines. In his 30 year career at Paradigm, Mr. Dopkin has held numerous leadership positions in Research & Product Management roles. Prior to joining Paradigm, Mr. Dopkin worked as a Geophysicist for Digicon Geophysical Corporation and served as Manager of Special Products and Vice President of Research for CogniSeis Development, a geosciences software company acquired by Paradigm in 1997.

Dopkin holds a BS in Geosciences from the Pennsylvania State University and an MS in Geosciences from the University of Houston at Clear Lake. He has published numerous articles on the integration of the geoscience disciplines to improve hydrocarbon detection and recovery, and is a member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists.
 

Jake Pyles

Chief Financial Officer

Jake PylesJoining Paradigm in January 2013 as Chief Financial Officer, Jake Pyles is responsible for overseeing all finance, accounting, tax, and treasury activities for the company. Prior to Paradigm, Pyles was the Chief Financial Officer for SMT, where he helped double the size of the company and managed the sale process of SMT to IHS in 2011 for $500M. Pyles led the integration of SMT into IHS after the integration and then assumed the role of Senior VP of Operations at IHS, where he managed the company’s global Information and Insight organization.

Before joining SMT, Pyles was senior vice president of Finance at McAfee Security, managing the company’s worldwide accounting, tax, and operations functions. Prior to McAfee, he was Vice President of Finance for Remedy Software where he led the acquisition and integration of the unit into BMC Software. From 1995 to 2002, he worked for BMC Software in various Finance and Corporate Planning roles. In addition, Pyles worked two years with Coopers & Lybrand in the firm’s Oil & Gas audit practice.

Pyles holds a BA in Business Administration and Accounting from Southern Methodist University and a MBA from the University of Texas. He is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Texas.
 

Somesh Singh

Chief Product Officer

Somesh SinghSomesh Singh joined Paradigm in January 2014 as Chief Product Officer. He is responsible for managing all aspects of Paradigm’s product strategy, design and delivery. Singh brings over 20 years of broad experience running large, globally distributed product teams at companies such as NetIQ, Vignette (now Open Text), BMC Software and IBM. Most recently, he served as the Vice President of Product Management and Engineering at NetIQ, where he led product innovation and oversaw global product management, and research and development teams. Prior to that role, he led research and development, customer care, professional services, training and IT as Senior Vice President for R&D and Technical Operations at Vignette. Mr. Singh holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, an M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania.

Xueling Jiao
Vice President, China

Xueling Jiao is the Paradigm Vice President for China. Ms. Jiao has over 20 years of experience in the upstream geophysical industry.  From 1995 to 1997, she served as Marketing Manager of Paradigm China, and from 1997 to 1999 she held the position of Sales & Marketing Manager in the Paradigm China office.  Ms. Jiao holds a Master’s degree from the Northwest Normal University.

Zvi Koren
Chief Technology Officer
Zvi Koren is the Chief Technology Officer. Dr. Koren founded the geophysical program at Paradigm in 1990, and headed the team responsible for developing the Paradigm GeoDepth® system for velocity model building, seismic modeling and depth imaging.  This system is in wide use worldwide, and has become the high-end standard for depth processing in the oil and gas exploration and production industry. He also led the development of the innovative Paradigm EarthStudy 360® full wavefield exploration and development system, based on full-azimuth angle domain imaging and analysis.
 

Dr. Koren holds a Ph.D. in Geophysics, and performed post-doctoral research at the Institut Physique du Globe, Paris University.  Dr. Koren has won numerous research awards and fellowships, and has published over 50 articles in his fields of expertise, including seismic wave propagation, seismic imaging, and the study of the structure of the Earth's crust, in particular geophysical modeling and inversion methods. Dr. Koren is a member of the SEG and EAGE professional societies.

Pablo Pascual
Regional Vice President, Europe, CIS, Africa & Latin America
Pablo Pascual was appointed Paradigm Regional Vice President for Europe, CIS, Africa & Latin America in January 2015.  Mr. Pascual served as Regional Vice President, Latin America from January 2006, managing company operations in a region extending from Mexico to the south of the Americas. Mr. Pascual has 20 years of experience in the IT business, including 13 years in the oil and gas software industry. From July 2002 to December 2005, Mr. Pascual served as Country Manager of Venezuela and Trinidad for Landmark Graphics Corporation, a developer of oil and gas software solutions. From August 1998 to June 2005 he held consulting, sales and management positions for Landmark Graphics in Latin America. From July 1995 to September 1998, Mr. Pascual worked as a consultant for YPF S.A. in the IT department. He holds a degree in Computer Sciences from the Universidad Nacional del Sur, Argentina, and an MBA from Escuela Internacional de Negocios de América Latina.

Bill Stephenson
Regional Vice President, North America

Bill Stephenson joined Paradigm in March of 2017.  He is responsible for all operations, sales and account management for customers in the United States and Canada.  Mr. Stephenson brings over 25 years of sales and executive management experience to his role at Paradigm.   Most recently, he served as SVP of Sales & Marketing at symplr, a leading healthcare credentialing and compliance software company.  Prior to symplr, Bill held numerous sales executive positions, including SVP of Americas sales at P2 Energy Solutions; Spatial Energy, where he led the global sales organization; IHS, where he led a global team of 120 sales and technical staff; and SMT, where he led the Americas sales team until acquisition by IHS.  Mr. Stephenson started his software sales career at BindView and Symantec.  He holds a Bachelors of Business Administration Degree in Finance from the University of Houston.

Andrew Sutherland
Regional Vice President, Middle East
Andrew Sutherland has 25 years of experience in the oil industry, focusing on well services, consultancy, technology sales and business management. He has worked in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Indian sub-continent, the Far East, the United States and Great Britain, and has been based in Dubai since 1997.  Mr. Sutherland previously served as Regional Manager Middle East & India for Earth Decision Sciences.  When that company was acquired by Paradigm in 2006, he became Vice President of Paradigm for the Middle East, India and North Africa.  After several years consulting to the worldwide oil industry, he rejoined Paradigm in September 2014 in the role of Director Middle East & India.  Mr. Sutherland also worked for many years at Baker Atlas, where he held a variety of positions, culminating in the role of General Manager Saudi Arabia.

Aaron Wattam
Vice President of Human Resources
Aaron Wattam is the Vice President of Human Resources for Paradigm. In this role, he leads the Paradigm global HR team and oversees all human resources policies and programs for over 700 Paradigm employees in all worldwide locations. Prior to joining Paradigm in January 2011, Mr. Wattam worked in Human Resources in the upstream oil and gas industry in the Conventional Operations Unit at Talisman Energy in Canada.  Previously, he led global Human Resources for over 7 years as HR Director for Umbra, an international consumer product design company.  Mr. Wattam is a graduate of the Business Administration program at Sheridan College (Canada) and holds both the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP – Canada) and Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR) professional designations.
