Indy Chakrabarti, Senior Vice President of Strategy at the Exploration and Production Software Division of Emerson, will present a case study, "Using Machine Learning for Automated Seismic Facies Classification" (September 20, 11:15 AM).
The use of machine learning has proven particularly successful in classification related use cases. In this presentation, we review the use of a new ensemble neural network approach (DNNA) to predict reservoir facies. The supervised algorithm accepts both post-stack seismic and well log data in order to make predictions that provide around 90% accuracy. In this case study similar classes of machine learning algorithms will be evaluated for comparison.
Indy Chakrabarti is Senior Vice President of Strategy at the Exploration and Production Software Division of Emerson, responsible for advising on product and marketing direction. Mr. Chakrabarti has more than 20 years of experience in product strategy, corporate marketing, and product management. He holds a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Rice University in Houston, Texas, and an MS in Engineering Logistics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
