The challenges for optimal completion and well placement in unconventional resource plays rely on a complex array of seemingly independent variables such as heterogeneous rock properties, anisotropy, and natural sub-seismic fracture networks.
New and enhanced-performance technologies are now available to facilitate accurate well placement and maintain lateral section in zone in such reservoirs. They help to classify the reservoir into different zones by integrating small-scale discontinuities from diffraction energy, seismic-driven reservoir characterization, petrophysics, reservoir modeling and microseismic to aid in the implementation of a completion program tailored to maximize recovery.
The new technologies provide solutions for unconventional play types with a multi-domain approach across the entire workflow, from multi-dimensional seismic data decomposition up to reservoir engineering, to reduce uncertainties and risk in the planning, drilling and completion decision-making process.

is Technology Global Director at Paradigm. As a key subject matter expert, Dr. de Ribet advises on developing interpretation and reservoir characterization workflows that increase efficiency and take full advantage of the Paradigm suite of geophysical and geological innovations. He has more than 20 years of experience in the upstream oil and gas industry. Dr. de Ribet holds a Ph.D. in Geophysics from the Institute du Physique du Globe, Paris University.
is Paradigm Product Manager for Unconventionals, Seismic Attributes, Pore Pressure and VoxelGeo. Before joining Paradigm, she worked for Marathon Oil as a prospect generator, shallow hazards interpreter and as a development geophysicist for unconventional plays. Prior to that, she worked for Landmark Graphics as a 3D interpretation and visualization consultant. Guerrra has a B.Sc. degree in Geophysical Engineering from Simon Bolivar University, Venezuela.
is Paradigm’s Technical Sales Advisor for Geolog. Prior to joining Paradigm, he was a global senior logging engineer for Halliburton where he worked offshore Brazil, Yemen, Canada and the United States' Rocky Mountain region. McKee has a B.S. degree in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Florida, US.
