Additional capabilities for integrated production modeling 

The METTE™ production modeling package facilitates all types of multiphase flow calculations, enabling engineers to efficiently forecast the total production asset, from reservoir to inlet of process plants. METTE is used for modeling wells, flow lines and gathering networks at all stages of field life – from appraisal, field development and engineering, to production and operation. Generate production profiles to assess the technical and economic feasibility of different production scenarios. The latest release of METTE includes enhancements to the solution's modeling capabilities and usability.


METTE VFM receives field data by running METTE as OPC DA client
  • METTE is an OPC DA client, enabling real time connection to field sensor and equipment readings 
  • Fluids can be circulated in the production network to simulate heating of flow lines in cold conditions 
  • Wells can model the thermal energy exchange between the core and annulus tubes, which is relevant for gas lift, geothermal production, and downhole separation of gas to annulus. 
  • A project pane has been added as default to enhance usability of the user interface 
  • METTE 2.3 will be the calculation engine for the upcoming release of METTE VFM - a new web-based application that analyzes real-time sensor measurements to estimate the flow of oil, gas and water 

In case you missed it, here are key features from previous METTE releases. 

  • Realistic modeling of the performance of compressors in oil and gas field production. Compressors can now be modelled by specifying performance in polytropic head as described from compressor vendors. 
  • A modular license structure has been introduced so that users may get a more fit for purpose offer.  
  • ‚ÄčThe tools for calculating VFP tables based on the METTE multiphase flow models has been updated. 
  • Multiphase pumps can be simulated in both network simulations and in well and flow line performance calculations. Evaluate subsea pump installments during field development or use it for operational support during production. 
  • Gathering networks with loops are supported, enabling users to model more complex production systems. 


METTE integrates the sub-surface and surface modeling workflows by coupling with reservoir simulators. Use METTE integrated with the Tempest suite to get production profiles reflecting the full production asset. METTE also integrates with industry standard simulator ECLIPSE and has been proven to simulate as many as 13 reservoir models within one single gathering network simulation.
