SKUA-GOCAD Fracture Modeling
Create a geologically realistic fracture network.
SKUA-GOCAD™ Fracture Modeling (FracMV)* uses fracture density and orientation information to generate geologically constrained discrete fracture networks (DFN) and compute effective fracture flow properties.
FracMV is part of a complete set of tools offered by Paradigm to characterize, model, and dynamically simulate fractured reservoirs. It facilitates the rapid investigation of the impact of natural fractures on production and field development decisions. Fracture density constraints result from structural analysis using SKUA-GOCAD Structural Analysis
, from seismic analysis using Probe®
and EarthStudy 360®
, and well analysis from Geolog®
. All of these can be calibrated and combined using SKUA-GOCAD Data and Trend Analysis
and SKUA-GOCAD Reservoir Properties

Fracture Modeling benefits:
Workflow-driven methodology: Allows users to quickly generate multiple scenarios of DFNs within the geologic model. The impact of uncertainty related to natural fractures can be assessed before production begins.
Output to reservoir flow simulators: Analyze and model each fracture set separately; combine to obtain block effective fracture porosity, permeability and shape factor for direct input into double-porosity, double-permeability commercial flow simulators
