New Features |
Why it Matters |
- Refraction Tomography
- An optimization process that takes as input picked first arrival travel time and outputs an updated shallow velocity model.
- Picked travel times are compared with simulated travel times; tomography finds the velocity model that minimizes these differences.
- Inputs to the application are picked first arrival times and an initial 3D near surface model
- Includes QC maps for analyzing the convergence
- Fully integrated into GeoDepth Tomography; benefits from all existing technological components (multi-node, logging, fault tolerance, etc.)
|
- Highly performant on large datasets
- Fully integrated, accurate and consistent shallow to deep modeling solution
|
- Joint Refraction/Reflection Tomography
- After a shallow velocity model is created using refraction tomography, it can be combined with an initial subsurface model to initiate a joint reflection-refraction tomographic process.
|
- Allows building consistent velocity models for both the shallow and deeper parts, increasing accuracy and reducing uncertainty.
- The shallow velocity model is used as a constraint, reducing the processing time for velocity model building.

|
- Tomography Multiple Parameter mode
- Enables the user to simultaneously run multiple tomography jobs using different parameter setups.
- Assessment and comparison of results through the 3D Canvas and pencil repository visualization tools, and using pre-defined statistical measures.
- Also available for Kirchhoff time/depth migration and Pre-stack Picker for optimal modeling and imaging.
- Can be used to provide statistics for resource management.
- Supports different HPC configurations at the user’s convenience.
|
- Enhanced productivity through automation of the parameter scaling process for the tomography workflow.
- Improves confidence in tomography results by addressing the non-uniqueness nature of the analysis and the fact that each step of the workflow may have multiple possible outputs.
- Easy visualization of multiple results.
- Helps in assessing model uncertainty.
|
- Tomography Varying Update Grid
- The vertical size of the tomography update grid can now vary with depth.
- Defined via a depth-value table or computed internally using the Fresnel zone assumption for resolution limits.
|
- A leap in both quality and productivity:
- Automation of varying update grid scaling by maximizing resolution per depth (according to the model and data) enhances user productivity.
- Enables high shallow modeling resolution while maintaining manageable run times.

|
- Multi 2D line framework enhancements
- Multi 2D section manipulation with multiple options; new and improved UI.
- Enhancements to the multi 2D tomography workflow.
|
- Improved flexibility of the multi 2D line framework – easy to handle and process multi 2D data.
- Improved output quality of multi 2D line modelling and imaging.

|
- Seismic operation toolset enhancements
- Improved processing of 3D gathers through additional filters (Radon, F-K) and operations (angle-to-offset, RNMO correction).
- Enhancements for PMLI (QSI)
|
- Optimized input for 3D gather analyses (AVAz, VVAz)
- Richer toolset provides additional gather processing options for imaging and QSI, increasing user flexibility.
|
- Kirchhoff Enhancements
- OVT binning application
- An interactive application to set up 3D Kirchhoff OVT gather output binning, including visualization of output fold vs input data distribution.
- Option for extended binning - reconstructs data-deprived bins with sparse information using neighbouring traces.
- Option to add Voronoi weights - enhances amplitudes around data-deprived regions.
- Star output
- Output multiple azimuthal sectors by given central azimuths and apertures.
|
- Easy interactive QC and visualization, enabling user to better calibrate gather output binning according to the input acquisition distribution, for improved image and gather quality.
- User’s ability to focus on targeted regions results in optimal inputs for pre-stack analysis (such as fracture characterization and other QSI analyses).
- Extended binning and Voronoi weight options further enhance output quality.
